After nearly 4 years of the Tadog Mercantile, back then called the Discount Store, operating at its satellite location in the Octamall, the Tadog Mercantile at Octamall will be moving to a new storefront lot within the Octamall. Both the Tadog Mercantile and Octamall have come to an agreement on moving, as well as updating the Tadog Mercantile to meet the new requirements and regulations imposed by the Octamall.

This move comes as the Octamall constructs a new wing to the Octamall, as well as the remodel of the historic Octamall Entrance. However, the move to the new location within the Octamall is much more than speculations involving reconstruction of the area.

“It’s about useability and progress” says Shelby Stocked, the general store manager for the Tadog Mercantile Octamall location. “For multiple years now the Tadog Mercantile has outgrown what it once was, and what space is available” Shelby says most new items the Tadog Mercantile offers, such as music discs have not been able to be sold at the Octamall location, as no space has been available to allow for these changed. “We are excited for this move, as this will be an opportunity for us to expand and allow for more space for our location to grow in the future.”

Some, however, say the expansion of the Tadog Mercantile will continue to shove out small businesses trying to make a start at the Octamall, and say this is just another way for the Tadog Mercantile’s parent company, the Tadog Corporation, so monopolize the server economy. “It’s an abomination, and just another way for the Tadog Corporation to take over!” Says Dusk, local communist, and owner of the Tadog Daily Piper’s rival the Dusky Insider. “Tadog21 is just an evil man, he wants to take everyone’s money!” Dusk added, before taking a bite of a beet and putting on a coat with a communist flag pin on it, as well as putting on his Russian hat before leaving the studio.

Shelby says the move has been long overdue. A year and a half ago, as reported by this paper, the main Tadog Mercantile shop got a new makeover and remodel. This remodel was to partly address the repairs needed to the historic building, but also to re-design the entire shopping experience, as well as the maintenance. All of this was designed to make both the shopping and maintenance more streamlined and efficient. These changes were also planned to be completed at the Octamall location, however due to the lack of available space, the changes never happened.

The owner of the Octamall, Octapoo, has reserved a space for the future location of the Tadog Mercantile at Octamall. Shelby and shopping design experts at the Tadog Corporation have been hard at work to design the new look of the Tadog Mercantile to best mimic the same flow of the main Tadog Mercantile. The new store location is expected to be in the newly constructed West Wing of the Octamall, however final decisions have not been made, pending completion of the Octamall construction.

The current location of the Tadog Mercantile at Octamall will remain open during construction Shelby says. There are also no planned shutdowns for the store during the transition to the new location Shelby added. Final decisions on when the new location will open up has not been made, however Shelby says they hope to open the new location within the next month.
